Voice Progress Updates

Use voice input to submit progress updates from the crew portal on the Trailblazer plan.

Crew members can use voice input to submit progress updates instead of typing. This speeds up field reporting, especially on job sites where typing is impractical.

How It Works

On the progress update form in the crew portal:

  1. Tap the microphone icon next to the notes field
  2. Speak your update (e.g., "Finished framing on the second floor, moving to electrical rough-in tomorrow")
  3. The system transcribes your speech and fills in the notes field
  4. Review the transcription, adjust the progress percentage, and submit

Speech Recognition

Voice input uses two methods:

  1. Web Speech API -- Built into most modern browsers. Works offline and provides instant results.
  2. Groq Whisper -- Cloud-based transcription as a fallback when Web Speech API is unavailable. Provides higher accuracy for noisy environments.

The system tries Web Speech API first and falls back to Groq Whisper automatically.

Delay Reporting

If your progress update includes a delay, a delay modal appears after the voice transcription so you can specify the delay reason and estimated impact.

Availability

Voice progress updates in the crew portal are a Trailblazer plan feature. Voice Quick-Fill for job creation on the dashboard is available on Starter and above.
